Antique curved transport trunk circa 1900 B.Vinay

Very beautiful old transport trunk, late 19th century early 20th century, domed, in wood entirely covered with its original brown canvas, its reinforcing wood, its brass nails, corners and closures, its leather sheathing with its black edging and its meticulous stitching, and its impressive leather handles. The canvas, even if it has some defects (stains, snags, etc.) remains in beautiful condition. The trunk had two closing straps, the two rear fasteners remain but one at the front is broken and the other is missing, they could be easily replaced. We have chosen to offer it authentic! The interior side slides whose system is hidden behind the fabric allow it to be left open and thus access its contents: a first storage space is removable and the bottom is compartmentalized with a partition covered with the same fabric as the interior (there must have been a second removable compartment on the top). Traces of use and time, missing parts, tears, traces of wood-eating insects. In the lid is the still very fresh and well printed label of the manufacturer, b. Vinay in vienna, it is written "fabrice de malles, millineres, valises, chaises, berceaux, voiture d'enfants, magasin de meubles, lits en fer, sommiers. B. Vinay 13, place de miremont (a priori), 13 vienne (isère)". On the side are old railway transport labels. The central latch bears the initials hb, the locks display the logo of their manufacturer, they work with the same key present.
