Eames Lounge Chair 670 & Ottoman 671 in rosewood, Herman Miller

Eames Lounge Chair model 670 with its matching ottoman 671, designed by Charles & Ray Eames and produced in the 1960s for the Herman Miller Collection. This vintage example was produced in Europe by Fehlbaum, a company that then held the manufacturing licence for Eames creations for Herman Miller and would later become Vitra. Both the chair and the ottoman retain their original label “Herman Miller Collection – Designer Charles Eames”. The moulded shells are veneered in rosewood, featuring a beautiful grain and a particularly warm brown-red tone. They have been carefully restored and oiled to restore the depth of the wood while maintaining the vintage character of the piece. The black leather upholstery is largely original and shows a lovely soft patina, with the creases and signs of use characteristic of a chair of this age. The cushion of the ottoman has been professionally reupholstered in new black leather chosen to closely match the original leather. The shock mounts have also been replaced. Very good vintage condition. The restored shells retain some light age-related marks. The original leather shows a natural patina and slight signs of use.
