The legendary Lounge Chair with its ottoman, designed in 1956 by Charles & Ray Eames and manufactured by Vitra in Germany. The Eames couple is among the most influential designers of the 20th century; with the Lounge Chair, they created their model of absolute comfort and at the same time one of the most famous seating icons in design history, still present today in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. The seat, backrest, and armrests rest on three curved shells made of moulded plywood, veneered in black-stained chestnut with the grain still visible beneath the dark surface; the fine layers of wood are outlined on the edges. The deep, tufted cushions are covered in black leather. The chair and ottoman rest on swivel bases made of black powder-coated aluminium. Both pieces bear the original Vitra label, and a certificate of authenticity is provided. This is a new piece: a showroom model, never used, offered at a price significantly lower than the current retail price. A second identical set of chair and ottoman is also available. Condition: as new – perfect condition with no signs of use. A timeless classic for discerning interiors. Chair dimensions: approx. 84 × 85 × 89 cm, seat height 38 cm (width × depth × height) Ottoman dimensions: approx. 63 × 56 × 42 cm (width × depth × height)
