Canadian Lounge Chair and Ottoman, 1960s – Northfield Metal Products

This elegant lounge chair with matching ottoman was produced in Canada in the 1960s and represents a high-quality example of North American post-war modern design. The chair features a classic combination of moulded plywood shells with wood veneer, original leather upholstery with button tufting, and a swivelling aluminium base. The original reclining mechanism, manufactured by Northfield Metal Products Co. Ltd., Waterloo, Ontario, is still present and identified by the original metal label beneath the seat. Designed for comfort, the chair offers a relaxed, slightly reclining seating position typical of lounge chairs from this period. Its timeless design makes it suitable both as a statement piece in a modern interior and as an authentic vintage accent in a mid-century setting.
