Designed between 1925 and 1927 by Marcel Breuer, the Wassily No. B3 armchair is a true revolution in the history of modern furniture. Inspired by bicycle frames, Breuer adopted chrome-plated tubular metal for the first time, a material then unheard of in furniture, to design a piece that was at once light, functional, and visually radical. Upholstered in taut black leather, the armchair offers a subtle contrast between the industrial rigor of its structure and the noble warmth of its seat. Its clean lines and assertive geometry fully embody the avant-garde spirit of the Bauhaus, a movement of which Breuer was one of the pioneers. Having become a timeless classic of 20th-century design, the Wassily remains an iconic piece of modern interiors, prized as much for its comfort as for its powerful visual impact. Condition: Good vintage condition. Visible wear on the leather, particularly on the armrests and seat, consistent with the age and use of the piece. The tubular structure remains in excellent condition, without deformation. Style tip: Perfect for a contemporary, minimalist, or industrial interior, this armchair pairs well with raw materials (concrete, steel, solid wood) or more refined materials (glass, marble). It can be displayed alone or in pairs, in a living room, office, or library with a strong character.
