This pear-shaped Westerwald stoneware jug has a tall, ribbed neck, a handle and a freely painted decoration in cobalt blue: curling tendrils, two bunches of grapes made of dots and a large number 3. The number probably refers to the capacity measure or to a numbering used by the wine merchant. A strong accent in a country, brocante or wabi sabi interior, but also as a contrast in a sleek, minimalist home. Lovely with a single branch or dried flowers. Very good condition. No cracks or chips visible. Small iron specks and glaze pits from the kiln, light wear to the rim and the base. Handle intact.
