Portrait of a young woman

Large portrait of a young woman seated, created by Augustin Carrera and dated 1926. Augustin Carrera was a painter born in 1878 in Madrid to French parents; he passed away in 1952. He was a painter in the Fauvism movement and heavily influenced by Cézanne. He was a student of Léon Bonnat and Henri Martin at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Notably, he completed a public commission in 1924 for the ceiling of the Marseille opera house and is represented in museums such as the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse and the Musée Cantini in Marseille. Signature and date at the bottom right, framed with a fine gold fillet.
