This lithograph “The Beautiful Land of Brittany - Old Mill at Loguivy” is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp in the bottom right corner. The colours are perfect; they are fresh. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with soft-ground etching, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886 at the shadow theatre of the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances by creating innovative coloured backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, establishing himself in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
