Vintage chaise longue / daybed in bleached wood and white leather
A sculptural vintage chaise longue with two high, scrolling ends, a long reclining surface upholstered in white leather and two loose bolster cushions. The design harks back to the classic méridienne and récamier, but the pale wood and understated execution give it a much more modern character. The frame is made of bleached wood and stands on four finely turned legs. The strongly curved sides flow elegantly up above the backrests and give the piece its striking silhouette. The seat and back are covered in supple white leather, finished with a narrow piping. It can be used as a chaise longue, daybed or generous sofa. Neoclassical, Directoire-inspired with a touch of Hollywood Regency. Lovely as a standalone piece in a serene bedroom, large hallway, dressing room or minimalist interior. Good vintage condition with visible signs of use. The wood has a lived-in, slightly weathered surface with remnants of an earlier finish. The white leather shows discolouration, fine craquelure, small scratches and some minor damage (clearly visible in the detail photos). Sturdy and ready to use.
