African mask symbolising a buffalo, carved from wood. Originating from Nigeria, handcrafted probably in the second half of the 20th century. Traditionally, this mask is worn by men of the Mama ethnic group during festivals marking fertility (of agriculture or women). In very good condition (old patina, one "horn" reattached, a tear on the front). Please refer to the photos. Dimensions: 28 x 11.5 x 39 cm. Weight: 795 g. An authentic object, very original, with clean and raw lines, in an ethnic or even brutalist style. Currently intended to be hung, I can add a metal and/or wooden support. The mask can also stand vertically and can therefore be placed.
