Sculptural ceramic candlestick, attributed to the Belgian ceramist Elisabeth Vandeweghe (Perignem workshops), from around the 1960s-1970s. The piece features an almost totemic architectural silhouette. The terracotta is worked in reliefs and animated by a palette blending black, copper brown, and red enamel punctuations. The composition plays with fullness and emptiness: a large central opening, sculpted curves, and an flared upper part. The numerous surface irregularities and modeling traces give the whole a particularly artisanal and graphic presence. Very good overall vintage condition, with irregularities and traces inherent to the artisanal work of ceramics. See photographs for details of the condition.
