Painted Folk Art Marriage Cabinet

Exceptional painted bridal cabinet in original paint. The colours and patterns on this cabinet are very beautiful and give the whole a rustic and characteristic look. This piece of furniture comes from the franconia region in southern germany and the cabinet will date from around 1800. The cabinet is in a neat, restored condition. For example, some parts at the foot have once been expertly replaced. Sporadically, some old woodworm traces can be seen (especially on the inside), which have of course been checked and treated. The piece of furniture has three shelves on the inside and has a working lock with key. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. These pieces of furniture were later placed in a show room on the farm that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions.
