Painted Folk Art Bridal Cupboard

This is an exceptional folk art bridal cupboard from southern germany (franconia). What is special about this example is the "faux" marble painting, which covers the entire cabinet in blue and red tones. What must have been a lot of painstaking work at the time. This copy dates from 1769 and is still in very good condition considering its age. Some light traces of use can be noticed, but nothing significant. The interior layout consists of a single rod with coat hooks. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. The cabinet can be transported in two parts and still has the original working lock and key. 189cm high, 113cm wide, 48cm deep.
