Painted Folk Art Bridal Cabinet

Very decorative bridal cabinet dating from the end of the 18th century. The cabinet has the original paint and has a very rustic appearance. This copy is painted in mainly brown tones with green and red colours on the doors. The panels are decorated with the tree of life, growing from the chalice of the water of life. Core motif for folk art from that time. The cabinet has a well-functioning lock with key and is equipped with a shelf and rod on the inside. The whole is in a used / restored condition. For example, the decorative mouldings on the crest and foot have been replaced at some point. The paint on the doors and sides is also worn and weathered. Considering that this piece of furniture is already more than 225 years old, this is of course not unusual. For example, our painted furniture is delivered ready for use after it has been checked and, if necessary, restored, while retaining its characteristic appearance. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. These pieces of furniture were later placed in a state room on the farm that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
