Beautiful and very old photograph depicting a flat cart pulled by 5 horses, possibly a harness used to move the upper part of stagecoaches (bodies) that were then transferred onto a train (this system appeared in 1843 on the Paris-Orléans line). This photograph was part of a collection of about fifteen old photos representing various scenes with the common theme of one or more horses, often related to the state railways (if you have any information, I would be grateful!). It is likely from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is mounted on a rigid embossed cardboard. This photo is in fair condition, with no major stains, but it obviously shows its age of over a hundred years, presenting small marks and stains, as does the cardboard. The cardboard frame measures 24.7 cm by 19.6 cm and the photo 17 cm by 12 cm. It will be sent well protected against creases as well as moisture. Other photos are or will soon be available in my shop, feel free to contact me if you wish to order several so I can adjust the shipping costs. Two identical copies available.
