Superb antique covered jug in fine earthenware with Japonese decoration in the Imari style, late 19th century. A very beautiful decorative piece with a mount and lid in pewter signed A. Broadhead & Co ENGLAND. Rich and colourful Asian-inspired decoration featuring pagodas, flowers, and exotic landscapes in cobalt blue, red, and gold tones. A charming piece, ideal for a chic country interior, curiosity cabinet, or English ambiance. The piece likely dates from around 1885-1895. The handle has been previously restored with period staples, giving it a lot of character and a superb antique patina. Solid and old repair, see photos. Small chip inside at the spout, invisible once the lid is closed. Cracks and signs of age consistent with the piece's age. Height: 21 cm. Maximum diameter of the body: 12 cm. Weight: 600 g.
