Rare desk set consisting of a desk and a Fagus chair. The design of the Fagus chair is by Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius for the Fagus factory, 1922/23. This version was produced in the 1970s. The desk is by an unknown designer but was originally purchased as a set and matches perfectly in both style and wood type. The Fagus chair, with its backward-jutting armrests and straight backrest, has a stern appearance that almost compels an upright posture. Its four wooden legs are arranged in an offset manner: the rear legs support the backrest, while the front legs extend freely into the room together with the protruding armrests. A piece of minimalist elegance and a small work of architecture by Walter Gropius, linear and constructive. The set is in good vintage condition with a light, appropriate patina.
