Graphis desk by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, 1970s

Graphis series desk, designed by Osvaldo Borsani in collaboration with Eugenio Gerli for Tecno, produced in the 1970s. An iconic piece of Italian executive furniture, resulting from the collaboration between two key figures in design research at Tecno, focused on functionality, modularity, and formal rigor. The desk features a composition defined by clean volumes and carefully balanced proportions. The main work surface is complemented by an integrated secondary shelf, extending the workspace while maintaining visual clarity. The surfaces are finished in laminate, with a refined chromatic contrast between the light top and the darker structure, a distinctive feature of the Graphis series. A sliding drawer with an internal plastic organiser for documents and stationery is integrated beneath the top, designed as a functional element perfectly integrated into the overall design. This project clearly reflects the shared approach of Borsani and Gerli, combining industrial rationalism, ergonomic consideration, and timeless aesthetics that remain highly relevant today.
