Sumptuous solid mahogany executive desk from the Franco-American luxury brand, which was actually that of Charles Delaunay, based at the FBG St Antoine in Paris. We know this thanks to the label on another desk I recently sold. The initials CH. D, found here engraved on the keyhole next to the brand, as well as the initials CD engraved behind each drawer handle, suggest that he had his desks made himself. Some were perhaps American; the casters are stamped Victor and mention a possibly American patent. Circa 1900. Solid mahogany, therefore; careful finishing, meticulous assembly, and details galore. This model was expensive at the time - it was an executive desk. It opens with a very beautifully crafted shutter thanks to its original working key and lock. The slats are solid and slide with a simple movement thanks to the sculpted handles. We then discover the amphitheater made of two small drawers with handles, two retractable pen holders, several pen trays and compartments. The top is in superb condition. Closed, the curtain blocks the opening of the drawers. When leaving in the evening, no one had access to your belongings. The mail was delivered through the slot made in the right panel. You discovered it in the morning by opening the curtain. Paneled on all sides, mounted on cast iron casters, excellent general condition.
