Chinese Chippendale bureau restored by Edward & Roberts

We are delighted to offer for sale this fully restored Chinese Chippendale-style desk, stamped Edward & Roberts. The company Edwards and Roberts, founded in 1845, was one of the finest manufacturers and retailers of antique English furniture from the second half of the 18th century. This desk is an exceptional piece, richly carved from all angles, with 'cluster columb' shaped feet and a pierced lattice gallery. The wood has been delicately refinished with a French polished finish. The writing surface is made of new brown calf leather embossed with gold leaf. Dimensions: Height 89 cm, Width 108.5 cm, Depth 64.5 cm. This desk is a rarity and a remarkable example of craftsmanship and Victorian style in the English tradition.
