Rare Napoléon III French Empire Gilded Bronze Bureau

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent original French Empire desk from the Napoléon III period, featuring oversized gilt bronze fittings. A highly decorative and collectible desk, it is in slightly restored vintage condition. It is complete with all original gilt bronze hardware and fittings, including two keys for the locks. It includes four large drawers at the front, with the left one being a very large single drawer that has a safety drawer inside. The top has been removed at some point but can be redone upon request for an additional cost. There are signs of the original manufacturer, a very faint pencil signature at the base, and the gilt bronze feet are stamped with a serial number similar to BG699. The patina is beautiful and original, although the desk shows normal signs of wear for its age. The desk can be fully restored with refinishing and French polishing, as well as a new calf leather top if desired for an additional price. Currently, it has been cleaned, waxed, and polished. Dimensions (taken at the widest points): height 75 cm, width 149 cm, depth 78.5 cm.
