Exceptional Art Deco Walnut Sideboard with Slatted Glass Display - 1930s Fu

We are incredibly proud to present a museum-quality masterpiece of Central European Art Deco design. This monumental, two-piece sideboard (consisting of a large base cabinet and a top display section) originates from the 1930s and perfectly embodies the luxurious Streamline Moderne aesthetic. Design and Master Craftsmanship. The architectural silhouette of this piece features smooth, aerodynamic curves and rests on a massive, elegant sled base. The visual centerpiece is the breathtaking woodwork on the lower cabinet doors. The master cabinetmaker utilized premium walnut veneer, arranging it in a highly demanding four-way match (diamond or cross-match) pattern. This technique creates a mesmerizing, symmetrical, and kaleidoscopic grain effect that elevates the piece into a work of art. The absolute rarest feature, however, is found in the upper display cabinet. Instead of using a single piece of bent glass for the curved corners, the transparent arcs are constructed from dozens of narrow, vertical glass slats. This was an incredibly expensive and complex artisanal technique during the 1930s, which beautifully refracts light and adds an unparalleled jewelry-like quality to the furniture. Restoration and Finish. This sideboard has undergone an uncompromising, comprehensive restoration in our specialized workshop. All degraded historical varnishes were meticulously removed down to the bare wood. We then finished the entire exterior with a premium hard wax oil. This modern, high-end treatment protects the wood against water and daily wear while providing a stunning, natural satin-matte touch, allowing the depth of the walnut grain to truly shine.
