Extremely rare nippon lamps, designed by simon p henningsen (son of perhaps the best lamp designer ever - poul henningsen = ph) for lyfa in 1970. 2 ceiling lamps, model nippon, of black and red lacquered metal. Manufactured by lyfa, 1970s. If you are a collector or passionate about danish design, you may know poul henningsen's son (famous designer, writer and artist). Simon is his name and, like his father, is a brilliant lighting designer. Simon henningsen was back in the 60s together with bent karlby design manager at lyfa and made some of the most iconic lamps in danish design history. Nippon is the name of this amazing lamp, and it is an extremely rare piece of danish design. The lamp is made of two pieces of lacquered rectangular sheet metal with two orange circles inside. Illustrates a setting sun, hence the name nippon = japan. Very good condition of these lamps even though they are about 50 years old and original. I cannot emphasize enough how brilliant and extremely rare these lamps are, and their value will only increase with time in the future.
