Shogo Suzuki pendant lamp for Stockmann-Orno, Finland, 1960s

Special cubist pendant lamp, designed by the Japanese designer Shogo Suzuki for Stockmann-Orno in Finland in the 1960s. The lamp consists of a sleek cube of white lacquered metal. Large round openings are made in the sides, behind which curved metal elements partially shield the light. This creates a special interplay between geometry, light, and shadow. When switched off, the lamp has a distinctly minimalist and architectural appearance. Once the lamp is on, the construction becomes part of the light image: the warm light is outlined along the curved shapes and is simultaneously spread downwards. The lamp is in neat original vintage condition, with light signs of use appropriate to its age and use. Dimensions are as follows: height 20 cm, width 20 cm, depth 20 cm.
