This magnificent little Louis XIV chest of drawers, dating from the 18th century, seduces with its elegance and refinement. Made of rosewood, a precious wood with deep shades, it features finely crafted geometric marquetry on its curved front, demonstrating remarkable cabinetmaking expertise. This rare piece is crowned with a superb red breccia marble with an eventful shape, framed by a corbin beak that underlines the nobility of the piece. The curved front of the piece features three tall, generous drawers, adorned with chiseled bronze pull handles representing large acanthus leaves. In the center of each drawer, a richly crafted gilt bronze lock catch catches the eye. It is functional and comes with its fitted key. The rounded uprights soften the lines, while the beautifully eventful low crosspiece brings a touch of dynamism to the whole. This chest of drawers perfectly embodies the spirit of the Grand Siècle: majestic without ostentation, decorative yet functional. It will fit equally well in a classic interior or a more contemporary setting, where it will add a touch of history and character. ********** Period: early 18th century.
