Small marquetry chest of drawers, Louis XV style – mid 19th century

Elegant Parisian chest of drawers in Transition style, made of rosewood and kingwood marquetry, featuring three curved front drawers. Each drawer is finely inlaid with rosewood framed by a band of ebonised wood, and adorned with leaf-shaped bronze handles, a functional lock, and a chiselled bronze keyhole. The lower rail is highlighted by a rich bronze decoration depicting scrolls, while the sides, also curved, showcase butterfly wing marquetry made from rosewood. The curved rosewood uprights are enhanced by a wide band of rosewood running along the edge, extending into convex feet adorned with bronze sabot. The whole piece is crowned with a red Griotte marble top with a corbin beak, elegantly following the lines of the furniture. With its contained proportions and quality craftsmanship, this chest of drawers will appeal to lovers of refined furniture that combines elegance and artisanal mastery. Period: Mid-19th century.
