Want to bring a little colorful and sunny touch to your decoration This ceramic plate from Vallauris, signed Jacques Sagan and made in the 50s is made for you. The theme, a couple of dancers, is joyful and light and is directly inspired by the past of this former musci-hall artist who, before becoming a ceramist, performed in the greatest cabarets in the world with a tightrope poodle act. The colors, frank and bright, are typical of his work and the characters, represented in profile, are reminiscent of the work of Picasso of whom he was a contemporary. The contours making up the design are hollow, revealing the original color of the earth. The enamels are then applied with a brush and fill the different areas in the manner of coloring. We particularly like the differences in textures and relief in the enamel, which contains bubbles and retains traces of repeated brushstrokes, and the simple, even naive appearance of the design, which gives it a playful and timeless character. The plate is in very good general condition and has no cracks or scratches. It has a cord on the back, which allows it to be hung on the wall like a painting. It can also be placed on a piece of furniture and used as a storage tray or presentation dish. Note that one of the corners on the back of the plate has been planed to give it greater flatness.
