The theme, a couple of dancers, is joyful and light and is directly inspired by the past of this former musci-hall artist who, before becoming a ceramist, performed in the greatest cabarets in the world with a tightrope poodle act. The colors, frank and bright, are typical of his work and the characters, represented in profile, are reminiscent of the work of Picasso of whom he was a contemporary. The contours making up the design are hollow, revealing the original color of the earth. The enamels are then applied with a brush and fill the different areas in the manner of coloring. We particularly like the differences in textures and relief in the enamel, which contains bubbles and retains traces of repeated brushstrokes, and the simple, even naive appearance of the design, which gives it a playful and timeless character.
