Old blue and white faience jug – Central Europe, around 1930

This ancient blue and white earthenware jug is a spouted jug with a cobalt floral decoration on a white background and a side handle. It originates from Central Europe, from the first half of the 20th century, in the tradition of painted tin-glazed earthenware. The popular glazed ceramics equipped the kitchen and pantry of the rural home, for serving and preserving. Its terracotta and glaze were suited for everyday use.
