Deck chairs and 'David' hammock by Odile Mir for Delmas, produced for Prisunic, 1972. This rare set comes from a French collection in Nice, belonging to personal friends of the artist, and was part of the iconic 'Filo' collection. The design features a geometric chrome tubular frame, with each corner subtly angled upwards. Metal springs integrated into the corners of the backrest and in the back support the cowhide seat. The striking contrast between white and brown leather gives the chair a powerful visual presence. From every angle, this piece is a sculptural statement: architectural, minimal, and highly innovative, characteristic of 1970s design. Odile Mir, a self-taught and recognised sculptor, was discovered by the industrial world, marking the beginning of her career as a designer. Her avant-garde aesthetic and preference for raw materials such as steel, leather, and textiles represent a significant turning point in 20th-century French furniture design. Mir was one of the leading French creators of the 20th century. Her creations are durable and comfortable, while also being inventive and aesthetically refined. Private collection Nice, France.
