Beautiful 'Buffalo' lounge chair in excellent condition. Designed by Kwok Hoi Chan in 1969 and manufactured by Steiner Paris. The Buffalo Lounge Chair by Kwok Hoi Chan for Steiner, Paris is an iconic piece of 20th-century design. It embodies the fusion of organic and industrial materials. The chair’s tubular massive steel frame creates a sculptural yet minimal structure, while the grey/white cowhide sling seat adds a raw, natural element, balancing comfort and aesthetics. Kwok Hoi Chan (1920-1990) was an emblematic figure of international design who emigrated from Hong Kong to England and France. In France, he paired up with the Parisian manufacturer Steiner. Even though Kwok Hoi Chan was deeply involved in European and international design he has always stayed loyal to his Chinese origins. His furniture resembles an imaginary alphabet borrowed from Chinese calligraphy. His trademark is a suspended tubular frame which is combined with an organic shaped seating, in this case the spectacular hide.
