Paulin, Pierre. Dimensions: H68 X W81 X D64 cm. Color: Chrome and tan leather. Year: 1963. Materials: Leather. Style: Design. The F675 “Butterfly” is an iconic armchair designed by Pierre Paulin in the 1960s for the Dutch manufacturer Artifort. A true manifesto of modernist design, it combines formal audacity and a quest for comfort in an aesthetic that is both minimalist and sculptural. This version in patinated cognac leather, stretched over a chromed tubular frame with clean, geometric lines, embodies all the brutalist refinement characteristic of Paulin's work. The original leather has been carefully conditioned in the workshop to preserve its suppleness and rich texture. Its unique patina, developed over the decades, enhances the authenticity and visual depth of the piece. With its balanced dimensions (H: 68 cm, W: 81 cm, D: 64 cm), the F675 rests on a graphic cross base, which accentuates its impression of lightness and elegance. This piece is a first-owner work, having belonged to a single family in Amsterdam since its acquisition, giving it a rare continuity of history and care. No longer in production, the F675 is no longer manufactured by Artifort, making it a rare and sought-after piece, prized by collectors and enthusiasts of 20th-century design, as well as those passionate about the work of Pierre Paulin.
