We are pleased to offer for sale this exquisite English commode dating from around 1770, George III period, attributed to Thomas Chippendale or one of his craftsmen. This sublime quality commode is hand-carved and features carved side columns, an ornate edge and feet, oversized brass handles, a sliding shelf lined with green baize, as well as a very interesting gentleman's toilet drawer with a central inset mirror, folding and sliding period glass, various compartments on each side, and two secret drawers in the lower back right section. The two side drawers have sliding lids with finger notches. This impressive piece has been deeply stripped, hand-waxed, and polished. Age-related patina marks add to the charm of this unique item.
