This very fine English late 19th-early 20th century (probably Victorian or Edward VII period) Georgian style chest on stand or highboy is crafted from the finest burl walnut, featuring exceptional veneered wood with a warm grain. The cabinet consists of fluted and canted corners, with the upper section containing three small drawers above three long and spacious drawers, all fitted with original gilt brass handles. This beautiful piece is enhanced with precious cross-banding inlay and seaweed marquetry on the front, showcasing fine quality and rich patina. The chest rests on a removable base with elegant cabriole legs on pad feet. The walnut wood stand includes a hand-carved and molded apron, while the four legs feature hand-carved scrolls and shell-shaped details. Highlights include bold fluted angles, veneered wood, cross-banded drawer fronts, scrolled inlays, cabriolet legs on pad feet, and original engraved brass mounts, adding considerable interest and value to this antique furniture piece.
