Cylinder desk / Drop-leaf desk – marquetry – Louis XVI style - 20th century

Elegant cylinder desk in Louis XVI style, made of precious wood with rich grain (flamed maple), enhanced with geometric marquetry inlays and frames. The piece rests on four tapered and upholstered legs, typical of the neoclassical repertoire, adding lightness and refinement to the whole. The upper part consists of three front drawers, adorned with drop handles in gilded bronze. The cylinder with a curtain reveals a compartmentalised interior with three small drawers and a central storage space. The writing surface is covered in burgundy leather (visible signs of wear), forming a flap. Large drawer in the belt with a central lock entry. Functional lock (key present). Interiors in solid wood with dovetail joints. Careful finishes and beautiful period patina. Very good overall condition. Some signs of use consistent with age. Slight wear on the writing leather. Minor small marks on the veneer (see photos). Structure is sound and stable. Louis XVI style / Transition from the 18th century – 20th century period. Ideal for a classic interior, study, bedroom, or reception room.
