Mahogany writing desk with mahogany veneer. Two drawers at the bottom, in the belt. Two drawers at the top as well, in a tiered design, in a canopy style. Small drop-leaf and two drawers and two niches inside. These tiered desks, or secretaries, were intended for ladies. The dimensions are more compact; the desk is smaller. Louis-Philippe style. 19th century. The mechanism still works. The key locks all the tiered drawers. A rare piece in these dimensions. Generally, these desks have three drawers in the belt. Practical and elegant indeed!
