Large sculptural ceramic bowl – Vallauris – Atelier Le Vaucour – 1950s/60s Superb decorative bowl in glazed ceramic signed on the reverse Le Vaucour Vallauris (reference DT 428). Made in the 1950s/60s, this piece is typical of the modernist production of Vallauris, a mecca of post-war ceramic art. The bowl has a free and dynamic form, evoking a zoomorphic or abstract silhouette, very representative of the design of the period. The exterior is decorated with a black and white volcanic effect glaze, while the interior is enlivened by wide black and bright orange bands that provide a strong and elegant contrast. Both a sculpture and a functional object, this large bowl can be used as a centerpiece, a pocket trinket dish or a purely decorative piece. Its exceptional size makes it a remarkable work in a contemporary or vintage interior. Dimensions: Width: 65 cm Height: 20 cm Depth: 20 cm Condition: Very good overall condition, slight signs of use consistent with age. A rare and decorative piece, a testament to the creativity of the Vallauris workshops in the modernist period.
