Very beautiful glazed stoneware vase by Jean-Marie Maure and Alfred Lebret, made at the Poterie des Ligers in Puisaye. This piece features an elegant baluster silhouette, with a slender and generously rounded body, resting on a flared foot and topped with a narrow neck with a wide opening. Its remarkable glazing combines deep shades of cobalt blue and ultramarine blue with superb celadon blue, water green, and beige drips. The layering effects, variations in texture, and delicately blended shades demonstrate a fine mastery of high-fire glazes. Alfred Lebret (1871-1955) was a French ceramist who contributed to the development of artistic stoneware in Puisaye in the early 20th century. Recognized for his technical skills and mastery of glazes, he was recruited by Jean-Marie Maure, owner of the Poterie des Ligers in Saint-Vérain. Their collaboration resulted in a significant production of flambé stoneware, characterized by decorative shapes and rich colored drip effects. Their creations are part of the revival of French decorative arts in the first half of the 20th century, bridging the legacy of Art Nouveau and Art Deco aesthetics. Jean-Marie Maure and Alfred Lebret are referenced in the book "Grès de Puisaye, de Jean Carriès à nos jours – Marques et signatures, " dedicated to the history of potters and ceramists in the region. A beautiful collectible piece, representative of the craftsmanship of the Poterie des Ligers, particularly decorative due to the intensity of its colors and the elegance of its proportions. Dimensions: Height: 20 cm. Diameter: 10 cm. Condition: perfect condition.
