Description
Enamelled sandstone vase from the lempereur workshops in the village of sars-poteries (59). Circa 1950. The village of sars-poteries (nord department) owes the second part of its name to the many artisanal pottery factories that date back to the XVIII century. In 1838, there were nine earthen pottery, eight sandstone pottery, and a fossil ash quarry. Only small workshops (maine, lempereur...) that manufactured pots, jugs, vases and various containers still remained in the 1970s and 1980s.
