Pair of bistro chairs signed Thonet

Pair of stamped Thonet Austria bistro chairs. Made of bent wood with caned seats. Thonet revolutionised flat-pack furniture in the 19th century by inventing bent wood (steam-bent beech) available in a self-assembly catalogue. The caning is handmade and antique. They feature two different turned wood designs on the backrest. Everything is original. Overall in good condition; one has better caning than the other, but generally, they are fine. There are some discolourations that add to their charm. Stamped under the seat, one of the two is quite clear, the other is slightly faded but still discernible. They are two different variants of model 83. Backrest height 87 cm. Seat depth 38 cm. Seat width 42 cm. Seat height 45 cm.
