Magnificent series of 3 Bistro chairs by Michael Thonet N'14. Chair No. 14 is a true bestseller and an "icon" of industrial furniture design, with simple and elegant lines, which is said to have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide from 1859 to 1930[1]. It continues to establish itself today as the benchmark bistro chair, which is easy to assemble, disassemble, and transport, with a very affordable price - it was apparently cheaper than a bottle of wine in the 19th century - but in 2011 costs around €525 for a new chair[2]... Its 150th anniversary was celebrated in 2009. Biography edit Michael Thonet created a small furniture company in 1819. At the same time, he experimented with assemblies and ways of bending wood. He was spotted by Prince Clemens Metternich, Chancellor of Austria, who became his admirer and patron. Thanks to him, he traveled to Vienna in 1842, where he presented his works to the Emperor.
