Pair of Empire style armchairs in solid beech, 19th century period. The scroll-shaped armrests are carved with dolphin motifs, a characteristic ornament of the Napoleonic decorative vocabulary. The front legs are saber-shaped, in accordance with the stylistic codes of the time; the back legs are straight. The seats and backs are upholstered in burgundy/plum velvet, secured with a row of silver-plated upholstery nails. The back of the chairs features the beech structure left exposed, in a lighter shade than the front. Light wear consistent with the age of the pieces, with no major damage noted. Dimensions: H. 87 cm – W. 47 cm – Seat height: 40 cm – Unit weight: approximately 12 kg. Sold as a pair.
