Antique Folk Art Painted bridal chest

Beautiful painted bridal chest from Germany, specifically from the Swabian Alps. The chest is painted in a grey-blue colour and features floral decorations on the front panel. This old paint is quite worn and weathered, giving the whole piece a rustic and characteristic appearance. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. These pieces of furniture were later placed on the farm in a show room that was only rarely used for important guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This example dates from 1825/1850.
