Extendable dining table 4D by Angelo Mangiarotti for Molteni, 1970
Elegant "4D" dining table, designed by Angelo Mangiarotti and manufactured by Molteni; it belongs to the famous 4D series, which was born from Mangiarotti's design in 1966 and was later added to Molteni's catalogue. The table features a highly minimalist structure, characterised by four angular architectural legs and a rectangular wooden top made up of two sections allowing for a central opening. When extended, the top expands from 144 cm to 192 cm in length, while maintaining a depth of 96 cm. The design illustrates Mangiarotti's exploration of assembly and structural construction, where form, function, and structure converge. Indeed, the 4D series is based on the concept of finished, interchangeable, and easily assembled components, with distinctive corner details that serve as both structural and aesthetic elements. The dark wood finish and clean proportions give the table a quintessential Italian modernist aesthetic—with strong architectural and rationalist tones—perfectly aligned with the Italian design style of the 1960s and 1970s. The table shows normal signs of wear consistent with its age and use. Free delivery in France, with the possibility of shipping throughout Europe and worldwide. Request a quote.
