Napoleon III style writing table in marquetry and gilded bronze. Elegant writing table in Napoleon III style, resting on four turned legs joined by a curved stretcher, centred with an important gilded bronze decoration. The rectangular top with scalloped edges is richly decorated with marquetry of precious woods on a black background, featuring scrolls, foliage, and symmetrical cartouches, with great finesse of execution. It is highlighted by a finely moulded brass gallery. The frieze opens to a drawer at the front, also adorned with marquetry and fitted with a gilded bronze keyhole. The whole is enhanced with finely chiselled gilded bronzes: foot rings, sabots, and central ornament. High-quality cabinetmaking work, characteristic of French furniture from the second half of the 19th century. Refined piece of furniture, suitable for use as a writing table, a side desk, or a salon table. Period: late 19th century.
