Very elegant salon table from the Napoléon III period, made of rosewood veneer, featuring a remarkable scalloped top with rounded corners. The top is adorned in its centre with a rich polychrome floral marquetry, composed of bouquets of flowers and foliage in golden and natural tones, highlighted by fine marquetry fillets (in lemon wood) forming a geometric frame. The frieze, also richly decorated, displays an important marquetry design of scrolls and floral motifs, framed by reserves and fillets. The sides are embellished with small decorative panels. The table rests on an elegantly curved base, joined by an X-shaped stretcher and a central element adorned with a small decorative motif. The legs are curved and finished with sabot feet, featuring elegant bronze fittings and ornaments. The whole piece reflects particularly careful cabinetmaking, with a beautiful exploration in the design of the veneer, the composition of the marquetry, and the movement of the base. Period: 19th century, Napoléon III.
