Oil on canvas. Traditional landscape, dense with vegetation, featuring a stream in the bottom left, bordered by paths along which several figures pass, including one in the foreground, dressed like a Roman soldier, who appears to have detached from the retreating group in the centre. Previously restored and re-stretched (new frame), the painting shows slight damage on the right. It is presented in a restored gilded frame from the late 19th century.
