Set of 6 stacking chairs by David Rowland for HOWE, 1968

This is the 40/4 stacking chair by American designer David Rowland for HOWE. It is one of the most recognizable examples of post-war modern design and is included in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The chair gets its name from the fact that 40 chairs can be stacked to a height of 4 feet. The chairs feature a slender chrome metal frame with a dark green (!), ergonomically shaped seat and backrest. The set shows signs of use, including a light patina and minor scratches on the seat.
