I am offering this oil on canvas, signed "after Bernier" (referring to Camille Bernier, 1823-1902). It depicts a forest landscape enlivened by a pastoral scene: a path lined with slender trees, where peasants walk with their flock. The composition, imbued with great sensitivity, recalls the spirit of the Barbizon School and the 19th-century taste for nature, painted with realism and poetry. The treatment of autumnal light, the richness of the tones, and the bucolic charm of the scene make it a decorative and evocative work. The giltwood frame, typical of the Napoleon III style, as well as the patina of the canvas and the original stretcher, allow us to date this piece to the second half of the 19th century. This work has a virtually invisible repair on the back, which in no way detracts from the integrity of the painting. With its classic and timeless style, it will complement any décor, adding authentic charm and character. Dimensions: • Width: 43.5 cm • Height: 32.5 cm • Frame depth: 4.5 cm
