Ceramic table lamp in light blue and brown tones. Model created by Einar Johansen for Søholm Stentøj (Soholm pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, in the 1960s-70s. Very beautiful model, the lower part is glazed, the upper part is not. Signed Soholm and with the stylised initials EJ of the designer. Original lampshade. Total height with lampshade: 51 cm. Diameter of lampshade: 43 cm. Height of the lamp base, ceramic only: 32 cm, diameter 18 cm. There is a crack on the lower part of the lamp. The price is set taking the crack into account. The lamp base remains quite solid; I have no concerns for shipping. If the base were to be broken upon arrival, I will, of course, refund the buyer. Einar Johansen was born in 1906. He studied painting at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, but changed his mind and became a ceramicist. In 1935, he opened his own pottery workshop until 1957. In 1958, he began working at Søholm until 1968, then returned to his own workshop. During the period he was employed at Søholm (1958-1968), he designed many beautiful stoneware and pottery models – among which is his famous blue glazed stoneware.
