Tribal statuette representing a kalunga head of the bembe people, characterized by its janus shape and geometric style. These sculptures were traditionally placed in front of the hut where the ritual masks were kept, playing a protective role for young children and pregnant women. We find the typical elements of bembe art: stylized face, projecting circular eyes, concave triangular mouth and a faceted neck, here with many flat surfaces reinforcing the sculptural effect. The deep patina and the marks of time confirm the antiquity and authenticity of this piece. Height: 31 cm material: carved and patinated wood condition: visible wear and cracks, stable structure a work of great presence, ideal for collectors and lovers of authentic african tribal art.
